The hardest and first thing to learn is how the heck do I get on to the wave.

Common to both goofy and regular foot.

  1. When jumping on to the wave angle yourself at about a 50 degree angle to the face line of the wave.(See VIDEO)
  2. You need to hop off the block with a little speed.(See VIDEO)
  3. Getting on to the wave using the belly flop (boogy board) way technique.  Just huck your self out there keeping the nose of the board UP!  Then find the sweet spot in the wave and popup. Not to high or to low on the wave.  Drag your hands in the water to slow you down, which causes you to go up the wave.  (Insert VIDEO)
  4. Once on the wave try to control your speed and stay in the middle to bottom of the wave.  You don't want to float up and down the face. As you start to go down the face apply pressure to the tail to slow the board down and then stand up tall or step forward if you are about to go over the wave.(Person 1 needs to learn this step , see VIDEO)

River Left side Goofy foot step in

  • Drop (with a little shove) the board in to the wave at about a 50 degree and quickly and lightly hop on to it.  I broke a board doing it this way. (Person 1 and 3 in VIDEO)
  • Place back foot on board and push off the block with your right foot to get some speed.(Person 2 in VIDEO). Notice the 3 points of contact on the board. Both hands - back foot.
  • Place front foot on board/skateboard it in. Just like jumping on a skateboard while running. (Person 4 VIDEO)

River Left side Regular foot step in (not sure)

  • Place front foot on board/skateboard it in. Just like jumping on a skateboard while running.(Insert VIDEO)
  • Drop (with a little shove) the board in to the wave at about a 50 degree and quickly and lightly hop on to it.  I broke a board doing it this way. (Insert VIDEO)
